During October 2007, an estimated 19,138* full-time positions and 16,022* part-time positions were open for immediate hire in the twelve-county St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). These estimates are based on a semi-annual survey of area employers conducted by the MIDAS section of the Public Policy Research Center at UM-St. Louis in partnership with the Center for Advanced Social Research at the University of Missouri-Columbia and the ETC institute, a for-profit market research and survey services firm.

The project is supported financially by the Workforce Investment Boards of the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County in Missouri. Also assisting on this project were the Workforce Investment Boards of Madison and Bond Counties in Illinois, St. Clair and Monroe counties in Illinois, Jefferson and Franklin counties in Missouri, and St. Charles County in Missouri, and St. Louis Community College and the United Way of Greater St. Louis.

*full-time/part-time status was not available for 122 positions
