PPRC Undertakes 5-Year Partnership with German Research Institute
On October 14, PPRC signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with German research Institute ILS (Institut für Landes) to signify a partnership in undertaking urban and regional research.
The impetus for the MoC was a recent visit to St. Louis by ILS research staff member Dr. Jörg Plöger. The PPRC and ILS share a common interest in applied research in urban regions. After conducting an inventory of current projects, PPRC and ILS will explore a joint research initiative. “It is an honor to be invited into partnership with ILS, as well as an exciting opportunity to undertake advanced research projects that will benefit both Germany and the US,” said Mark Tranel, PPRC Director. The partnership will launch in 2017 and continue for five years. The collaboration may be renewed annually for subsequent years.
ILS is an independent research institute that conducts international and interdisciplinary research to compare and analyze development of urban spaces. It investigates urban restructuring processes at all levels, from town quarters to municipalities and on to urban regions. Over the past 25 years, PPRC has established itself as the preeminent applied policy research resource for the civic and public communities of metropolitan St. Louis and the State of Missouri. PPRC holds a deep commitment to both engagement and service, and responds to the needs and expectations of its constituencies.
