Missouri Sales Tax
Missouri imposes a state sales tax rate of 4.225%, consisting of
a base rate of 4.0%, plus 0.125% for wildlife conservation and 0.1%
for parks, soil and water conservation. In addition, cities, counties,
and special taxing districts such as fire districts, are allowed
to impose additional sales taxes. Fiscal year 2005 Missouri sales
tax collections make up 28% of the state’s total tax collections
and the burden (percent of personal income paid in taxes) on Missouri
taxpayers ranks 22nd of 46 states (four states do not impose sales
taxes).
