Public Policy Administration at UMSL
Public Policy Administration (PPA) at the University of Missouri-St. Louis has three components: the Master of Public Policy Administration Program (MPPA); the Nonprofit Management and Leadership Program; and the Local Government Management and Leadership Program. Public Policy Administration is a unit of the Graduate School. Dr. Andrew Glassberg serves as director.The MPPA program is a professional graduate program in public administration and public policy. It is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration and serves as an Editorial Home of the American Review of Public Administration. Faculty are on joint appointments with Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology and business. Specializations are available in: Managing Human Resources and Organizations; Policy Research and Analysis; Local Government Management; Health Policy; and Non-Profit Organization Management.
The Nonprofit Management and Leadership Program (NPML) offers education and training for professional staff, board members, and other leaders of nonprofit/voluntary organizations, as well as student and others wishing to explore a future in the field. This program offers:
- Graduate and undergraduate credit certificate programs.
- Noncredit workshops on Grant Writing, Accessing Federal grants, and creating and Managing a Successful Planned Giving Program.
- Consulting and custom-designed training services to nonprofit, voluntary, and public sector organizations. Dr. John McClusky serves as director.
The Local Government Management and Leadership Program is a joint project of Public Policy Administration at UM-St. Louis, University Outreach and Extension; the East-West Gateway Coordinating Council; and the Public Policy Research Center. It facilitates cooperation between the university and the professional local government community. The program provides a Local Government Training Institute, as well as management consultation with area local governments.
Public Policy Administration maintains particularly close ties with the public Policy Research Center. MPPA faculty participate in research projects with the PPRC, and MPPA student serve as graduate Research Assistants with the PPRC.
