About Us: Letter From the Director
Mark Tranel
Welcome to our Web Site! The Public Policy Research Center is an
original and multifaceted resource for metropolitan St. Louis. The
PPRC engages leaders and residents in fulfillment of the University's
mission to promote the St. Louis region's progress and prosperity.
For more than 40 years, the University of Missouri - St. Louis has
maintained a commitment to active partnership with the community.
The PPRC's professional staff and faculty fellows work for government
agencies and nonprofit organizations, providing customized information
and personalized training. Whether the need is for the development
of new public policy, the evaluation of existing public programs,
the training of organizational leaders, or the development of effective
strategies for public or community organizations, the PPRC has the
capacity and expertise to provide the service. Whether the issue
is education, the environment, economic development, health, housing,
or transportation, the PPRC has experienced personnel to collect
and analyze data.
But the PPRC does so much more. It contributes to the arts through
its own photographic gallery. It educates students and faculty through
applied research seminars. It informs the St. Louis community through
issue forums and a variety of publications.
On this website you will find detailed information about our capacities,
collaborations and calendar. The PPRC asks "How can we be of
service to you?" We hope you'll let us know.
