for
Increasing Homeownership
Among Low-Income and Minority Residents
in St. Louis City and County
What is the impact of homeownership programs in the St.
Louis area? Join us on November 13 for a multi-disciplinary discussion
of the topic.
In 2007, the faculty of Public Policy Administration (PPA) at UM-St.
Louis was awarded a fellowship from the Public Policy Research Center
to conduct an interdepartmental examination of low-income and minority
homeownership in St. Louis City and County. On November 13, members
of the research team will present their findings. The seminar will
cover:
An analysis of current local homeownership assistance programs
A comparison of new and long-term homeowners with regard to involvement
in community activities, expectations for public services and their
satisfaction with such services
A discussion of data collected through interviews with developers,
aldermen and city officials. These interviews gathered information
on the reasons for homeownership programs, subsidies, support for
the programs, and the impact on existing residents
Trends in real estate values in the program areas, on both individual
homes and the neighborhood as a whole
This will be a panel discussion, featuring some of the key researchers
in this project. Presenters include:
Andrew Glassberg, Associate Professor of Public
Policy Administration and Political Science , UM-St. Louis
Lana Stein, Professor of Political Science and
Public Policy Administration, UM-St. Louis
William Rogers, Assistant Professor of Economics
at UM-St. Louis
Jeremy Main, Doctoral Student of Political Science,
UM-St. Louis
William Winter, Research Analyst, GIS, Public Policy
Research Center at UM-St. Louis
The seminar will be held in the Public Policy Research
